FAQ

Got Questions?

Here are answers to the most common questions we receive from our patrons.

How do I book a stand up paddleboard (SUP) lesson or tour?  Tours and lessons are not confirmed until payment has been made.  Booking early is always recommended to secure availability.

Option1: Reservations and bookings can be made right here on our website. Go to our Events Calendar and choose your desired date and activity.  Click on the online booking link that will take you to our e-shop.  You will be requested to signup, choose the event you want to book, leave detailed comments/requests, and submit your order.  You will then receive an email order confirmation detailing your requests.  You will be required to call us with your credit card details either at our local number (242)327-3853 or U.S. (561)237-5111 at least 48hrs in advance of your activity date and confirm with a PappaSurf employee your desired event time.  We will immediately email you a receipt of payment that is your official booking confirmation.

Option 2: Come to our store on Cable Beach and pre-pay at least 48hrs for lessons and tours.

What do I need to bring for a stand up paddleboard (SUP) lesson, tour, or rental?

Bring your smile, adventurous attitude, swimwear or clothing you don’t mind getting wet, sunblock, towels, sunglasses, and maybe a hat for more sun protection.  Water shoes and a waterproof camera are a good idea but optional. We’ll bring the fun!

How do I book stand up paddleboard/bicycle rentals?  It is always best to pre-pay and reserve your rentals ahead of time as boards and bikes in the rental pool can deplete quickly and we operate on a first-pay first-served basis.  We don’t like to disappoint so plan ahead!

Option 1: You will be required to call us with your credit card details either at our local number (242)327-3853 or U.S. (561)237-5111 at least 24hrs in advance if you require delivery of boards.  You may also come into our store.  All renters are required to present a valid credit card and Government issued ID, preferably a driver’s license, even if you are going directly to the beach and have already pre-paid by phone.  You can pay for your rental(s) in cash, however, PappaSurf will take an imprint of your credit card and a copy of your ID.  No Exceptions.

What if the weather is bad and we’ve already booked?  Barring a lightening storm, torrential rain, or God forbid, a hurricane, the paddling fun goes on.  We live in the tropics where our liquid sunshine is a refresher for the heat….so no worries you’ll still have a great time!  PappaSurf only cancels activities and rental bookings if there is a lightening storm or severe inclement weather and will issue a full refund in these instances.  If in doubt, please call us. Also, if PappaSurf determines the water conditions for the day too dangerous for paddling, we reserve the right to cancel/reschedule…SAFETY IS OUR #1 CONCERN.

What experience do I need to have for a paddleboard (SUP) tour?  Stand up paddleboarding (SUP) is the fastest growing sport in the world for a reason…it’s fairly easy so the average person can do it and has great health benefits.  There are no prerequisites for taking one of our stand up paddleboard (SUP) tours except being able to swim and in good health.  If you have never paddleboarded before, we have found that it is beneficial (not necessary) to take a SUP lesson beforehand because it will make for a more enjoyable experience and you won’t experience the awkwardness of lagging behind on a tour because of your inexperience.  For families and groups who have varying degrees of experience, we have many times offered a hybrid SUP lesson/tour so you get a 2 in 1 experience.

Is there a minimum or maximum age or size to take a stand up paddleboard (SUP) lesson or tour? We like to say that ages 8 to 80 is the perfect range for our paddlers because once you know how to swim and in good physical health, we will get you going in no time. We have boards that can handle up to 320 lbs, so just let us know if this is a requirement for you, then come out and paddle for a great time!

Are there any physical limitations?  Our stand up paddleboard (SUP) tours and lessons do not put any undue physical stress on your body. You do not have to be physically fit to participate and you will not find it physically taxing unless you sign up for our PaddleFit® or Race Clinic which focuses on fitness.  However, if you have any health concerns or physical ailments that require special attention, or if anyone in your group has any special needs, please contact us for further discussion on accommodation.  For those who do not feel strong enough to stand up on a paddleboard for extended periods of time, we have used other alternatives in the past like sit-on-top kayaks.

Where do I go for my lesson, tour, or rental?
PappaSurf is located very near the beaches of Cable Beach, we are not on a beach.  Our usual launch spot is Goodman’s Bay Beach across from the Goodman’s Bay Corporate Center.  If this location changes due to ocean current changes or other reasons, you will receive an email from PappaSurf with information on those changes.

What is the best way to get from downtown to the launch beach?  From downtown, it's approximately a 15 minute bus ride to this location.  Take the #10 jitney ($1.25 per person) and tell the bus driver to drop you off at Goodman’s Bay Beach across from the Goodman’s Bay Corporate Center, which is on their direct route.  Alternatively, you can take a taxi…it’s just more expensive.

Should I "tip" my Paddleboard Tour Guide/Instructor?  It’s our SUP Instructors/Tour Guides responsibility to make sure that you have the safest and most fun experience on our beautiful waters.  They will teach you a lot and make your time with us a memorable one.  It is not required for you to tip them but it is a welcomed gesture to show them your appreciation IF you feel they have done an outstanding job.

Do you do parties, events, youth groups etc?
Yes if you have any group, whether it be corporate, social, or a kid’s party that you're planning , please call us and let us arrange a wonderful outdoor experience for you.
